Vegan BBQ, ingredients and how to
A vegan BBQ can be just as delicious and satisfying as a traditional BBQ. Here are some ideas for ingredients and how to prepare them:
Ingredients
Grilled vegetables: zucchini, eggplant, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, corn on the cob, etc.
Veggie burgers or hot dogs: look for ones made from plant-based proteins like soy, pea protein, or wheat gluten.
Tofu or tempeh: marinate in your favorite sauce and grill until crispy on the outside.
Vegan skewers: skewer veggies and marinated tofu/tempeh and grill until tender.
BBQ sauce: choose a vegan brand or make your own using tomato sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce, and spices.
How to prepare
- Start by preparing the veggies. Wash and slice them into even pieces so they cook evenly on the grill. Brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat up your grill to medium-high heat.
- Place the veggies on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are tender and charred.
- If you’re using veggie burgers or hot dogs, place them on the grill and cook for a few minutes on each side until they are heated through.
- If you’re using tofu or tempeh, slice it into even pieces and marinate in your favorite sauce for at least 30 minutes. Then, place on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until crispy.
- If you’re making skewers, alternate veggies and tofu/tempeh on the skewers and grill for 5-7 minutes on each side until everything is tender and charred.
- Serve with your favorite BBQ sauce on the side.
With these ingredients and preparation methods, you can have a delicious and satisfying vegan BBQ that everyone will enjoy.
